“The Royal We” isn’t just our name. It’s the spirit of this whole operation.
We’re a one-woman band supported by a network of freelance creative bad-asses.
And we’re doing it this way on purpose:
Our clients have the benefit of a nimble, affordable, dedicated agency minus the overhead and admin fees of traditional models.
Our talented creative partners work on contract depending on the project and can work remotely and independently (as many talented creatives prefer to do.)
Over the past 12 years, Liza Dunning has been a creative lead, brand director, copywriter, content strategist, and entrepreneur. Sometimes, all at once.
In 2009, she joined a two-person startup (Scoutmob) once she convinced the founders to change their name and hire a better graphic designer. She created a beloved brand voice, daily editorial, app, and e-commerce platform, helping grow their subscribers from zero to 3+ million in 13 U.S. markets. In 2014, she joined Airbnb to help rebrand the startup darling and turn it into a ‘super’ brand, focusing on community-led storytelling and winning a heaping handful of awards for social content and marketing campaigns along the way. Throughout her full-time work, she’s continued to side hustle with startups and founders to help them find their brand messaging and content marketing strategy… which is what brought her here to today.
She founded The Royal We in 2018 with the desire to get back to working with the dreamers and the doers who want to get their stories out into the world.
So here we are.
And, yes, as you might’ve noticed, Liza is writing this in the third person. Yes, it’s awkward. But when you name a company something like this, you get used to it.
